Culture

When you visit this historic island, you′ll enjoy a cultural feast, rich in folklore, music and dance inspired by the African heritage of Tobago′s inhabitants. Every year from mid-July to early August, the Tobago Heritage Festival moves from village to village celebrating the islands fascinating culture, customs and traditions

Cuisine

Like much of culture, Tobago′s traditional cuisine is heavily influenced by the African heritage of its inhabitants. The islands specialties include crab and flour dumplings simmered in a thick curry and coconut sauce. The main ingredients of Tobago′s Creole cuisine are the foods of West Africa like okra, pigeon peas, plantations and callaloo.

Beaches

Tobago has many beautiful beaches. snorkeling are very secluded, while others are equipped with life guards and modern facilities. Some beaches boast white sand, shallow bays and calm blue waters. Others have shallow reefs for snorkeling while others are more exposed to ocean swells.

Climate

Tobago has a warm, sunny climate year round. The average daytime temperature is about 28°C. The island has two main seasons, The Dry Season from January to May and the Rainy Season, from June to December. In the Rainy Season mornings are usually sunny, followed by rainy afternoons and fair nights. During this season the general rainfall pattern is interrupted by days of brilliant sunshine.
